Tells the story of Tatsuya Nikaido, a middle-aged divorcee who runs an agricultural company and lives in a suburb with his daughter and mother. After his only son’s death, he has been pressured by his fate to save his family name and ancestral line as a only male in the family. Tatsuya’s daughter Yuko can’t help feeling responsible for her family’s survival despite her resistance against the traditional mind.

Sky’s Restaurant (Restaurant in the Sky) is Japanese Drama Comedy Family Science fantasy movie based on a children’s novel. The film revolves around Wataru (Yo Oizumi) who lives with his wife Kotoe (Manami Honjou) and his daughter Shiori on a cattle ranch in Setana, Hokkidao. He is a visiting chef cooks an unforgettable meal with his ingredients, which prompts the family to open their own restaurant and reproduce the magic.
Wataru inherited the cattle ranch from his father and he also runs a cheese workshop. He isn’t as a skilled in making cheese and he is scolded often by his strict teacher. Yet, he has a good time with his colleagues including Kanbe (Masaki Okada) who was moved to the area from Tokyo and does sheep farming.
One day, a chef from a famous restaurant in Sapporo arrives and makes a meal with materials from their ranch. The chef gives high praise to the food ingredients. Watau then comes up with an idea. He wants to open a restaurant for only 1 day to let people know about the food ingredients from Setana. They struggle to open the restaurant, but suddenly Otani (Fumiyo Kohinata) collapses.
